Orange comes from a vineyard planted in 1927 by my great-grandfather Angelo, together with his four sons. This historic vineyard, covering 2,827 square meters, was inherited from a cousin of ours and had been abandoned since 2018. At first, there was talk of uprooting it — but we chose to bring it back to life.
Through a bold and regenerative pruning, we restored strength and vitality to the vines, breathing new life into this small yet precious plot. Today, that same vineyard yields a limited production of 2,500 bottles: a wine we deeply cherish, as it takes us back to our roots.
The grape composition follows my great-grandfather’s original idea: 90% Trebbiano Toscano and 10% Malvasia Bianca Lunga. The grapes ferment on the skins for 21 days, giving the wine its characteristic amber color and intense aromatic profile.
Just like we do for our reds – Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino – we apply the same philosophy: respect for tradition, care for the vineyard, and attention in the cellar.
This is how our Orange was born: a wine that tells a story of family, legacy, and renewal.
Orange was first created in 2022 and released to the market in February 2024. The grapes are grown on a hill just one kilometer from Siena, with a stunning view over the Duomo’s dome and the historic skyline of this ancient Ghibelline city.
We use only organic fertilizers, and our treatments are made by diluting copper flakes, lime, and sulfur in water — strictly no chemical products. The soil is worked mechanically, without herbicides.
As for the aging process, we opted for a balanced approach:
Half of the Orange wine aged for 8 months in French oak barriques, from:
Allier, with staves bent using steam
Limousin, also steam-bent
Both are soft woods, capable of bringing elegance and roundness to the wine. The other half aged in stainless steel tanks, preserving freshness and structure.
After blending, the wine spent another 8 months aging in the bottle before being released to the public.
